2 dead after driver loses control, collides with another

TUCSON, Ariz. -

Two men died after a driver lost control and collided with another car early Sunday morning.

Deputies say 18-year-old Gabriel Gallego was driving a Corvette near River and Swan Roads when he lost control, crossed the center line and collided with a Honda Civic.

The vehicles both spun off the roadway and Gallego was ejected from the car. The Corvette's passenger, 20-year-old Olajuwon Gilliam, was trapped inside.

Both Gallego and Gilliam were pronounced dead at the scene.

Two passengers in the Honda were taken to University of Arizona Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Deputies say they determined the Corvette was speeding, but they don't know if alcohol was a factor.

The crash is still under investigation.
