SURPRISE, Ariz. -

A 28-year-old man was arrested after a nearly two-year-long child pornography investigation.

A Surprise police report states two people contacted officers after buying an external hard drive from Luke Stephen Hinkley.

They told police they had found hundreds of images they believed to be child porn on the drive.

During a search of Hinkley's home, the report states officers seized a Compaq computer tower.

On June 17, police received a report stating over 100 child porn images were found on the external hard drive and the computer tower.

A sampling of the images showed children younger than five and as old as 14, the Surprise police report states.

On Thursday, Hinkley was interviewed and told officers he had been using a lot of different drugs when the case started.

The report states Hinkley admitted to searching for porn of "young girls," but was looking for girls aged 16 to 18.

Hinkley said that he allegedly started looking at inappropriate pictures to figure out who was making them so he could report them to law enforcement, but eventually just searched for the images themselves.

He was arrested and faces 13 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.
