Mandatory Gas Hike Coming July 1st, Here We Go Again?

Posted: Updated:
Los Angeles, CA -

California gas prices are starting to soar again, as the excise tax is expected to drive the price per gallon of gas up 3-and-a-half cents higher.

This excise tax, signed into law by former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, and approved by the State Board Of Equalization raised the tax on a single gallon to cost 39.5 cents once the ten percent increase hits drivers on July 1st.

The initiative of excise tax passed in 2010, requires an adjustment every year in March.

The additional money taken from that extra 3.5 cents per gallon starting July 1st will go toward California road repairs and transit projects.

The Golden State charges the fifth highest average price per gallon of regular unleaded gas — $4.14 was logged in Southern California alone this June.
