Bicyclist dies after drive-by shooting; no suspects

Posted: Updated:

PHOENIX (AP) -- Authorities are investigating the fatal shooting of a bicyclist in northwest Phoenix.

Phoenix police say a 51-year-old man was found with several gunshot wounds before 3 a.m. Thursday in front of a house near 19th Avenue and Peoria.

Authorities say a white pickup truck pulled up to the man and someone inside the truck fired at him.

The victim was taken to a Phoenix hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police have identified the man, but are withholding his name until his relatives can be notified.

They say it's unclear if the victim and shooter were acquainted in any way.

Police are scouring the scene for evidence and going door-to-door to talk to potential witnesses.

Detectives also hope footage from a security camera mounted on an apartment building near the shooting scene might show what happened.
