Fire Damages Atlantic City Boardwalk Ramp

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. -

A fire destroyed part of the boardwalk in Atlantic City overnight.

It happened just before 11 p.m. on the ramp to the boardwalk at Saint James Place.

Witnesses say a shed that covers trash cans caught fire.

The ramp is destroyed and the railings are melted.

The comedian and TV host was undergoing an outpatient procedure at a clinic on the Upper East Side on Thursday when she went into cardiac arrest and was rushed to the hospital. Her daughter, Melissa Rivers, issued a statement saying her mother was "resting comfortably."

Since June, department authorities have seized more than 1,200 live specimens of the large snails, all of them traced back to someone in Georgia who was selling them illegally.
