PHOENIX -

A man allegedly shot and killed another during an argument at a business near Bell Road and 19th Avenue.

An employee called officers after an armed, masked suspect came into the business demanding the owner, William Neumann, give him money from the safe and firing shots, a police report stated.

After officers arrived, they were eventually able to get the suspect, 32-year-old Scott Robert Hagee, to come out from the business.

Hagee told officers he had gotten into an argument with Neumann, who he says is a drug dealer, a police report stated. According to Hagee, Neumann hit him and then he shot him in self-defense.

Officers found Neumann inside the business with a gun shot to the chest and severe head injuries. He was taken to a hospital where he later died.

According to the report, the employee had a different version of events than Hagee.

The employee told police that he was in the back of the business working when he heard yelling and then saw a suspect chasing Neumann out of the shop.

Next, a police report says the employee saw a suspect shoot Neumann, but he wasn't sure if he hit him or not.

The suspect then allegedly dragged Neumann back inside and toward the office. The employee then heard a second gun shot and the suspect allegedly say "Give me the money out of the safe."

The police report says the suspect's clothes described by the employee matched Hagee's outfit, but that he wasn't able to identify the suspect's face because he had been covered up.

Hagee faces charges of premeditated first-degree murder and attempted armed robbery with a deadly weapon.
