3 charged in Gurnee auto burglaries

GURNEE, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Three teenagers have been charged with a recent string of auto burglaries in north suburban Gurnee.

Robert Schwab, 19; Gregory Smith, 18; and a juvenile boy were arrested after someone tipped off police about some of the items stolen in recent vehicle burglaries, according to a statement from Gurnee police.

Schwab, of Wadsworth, was charged with four felony counts of burglary and one felony count of theft, police said. Smith, of Winthrop Harbor, was charged with three felony counts of burglary and one felony count of theft, according to police.

The teen will be charged with burglary and theft in Lake County Juvenile Court.

Schwab and Smith remain in police custody as the investigation continues.
