Just How Much Is Your Commute Costing You?

PHILADELPHIA -

Ever wonder just how much your morning commute costs you here in the Philly area?

A report released Thursday morning from TripNet.org breaks down the most expensive commutes in our area.

The report says traffic congestion costs Philadelphia commuters $3.4 billion a year in wasted time and fuel.

No. 3 on the list involves drivers taking Route 422 from Route 202 to north of Egypt Road. They usually spend 67 extra hours on the road. This costs them an additional 29 gallons of gas and over $1,200 annually.

On average, this route costs drivers $24 extra a week.

Drivers who take Route 611 from the Pennsylvania Turnpike to Interstate 95, and commuters who take I-676 from I-95 to I-76 finished in a tie for the most expensive drives.

They're both spending an additional 125 hours in the car each year and using an additional 54 gallons of gas.

Commuters taking these two routes spend an additional $2,300 a year. That breaks down to 44 dollars a week.

FOX 29's Kacie McDonnell broke down the details during "Good Day Philadelphia" in the video clip above.
