DEA tight-lipped on DeKalb County home raid

Posted: Updated:
DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. -

The Drug Enforcement Agency remains tight-lipped about its raid on a home in DeKalb County on Wednesday.

SKYFOX 5 was over the scene at Rockbridge Road and First Avenue in Avondale Estates as agents continued their raid.

Agents laid out materials they say are used to make synthetic drugs. The area was cordoned off as agents wearing protective gear collected evidence including jugs of chemicals.

"I came home about work and I saw the trucks behind here and didn't know what was going on, so came over here and saw that they had a younger male in custody and they rode off with him," said one local resident who says he doesn't know who lives at the raided home.

There was no word if any arrests were made, but authorities said they are following up on leads.

Agents said the chemicals seized from the home needed to be analyzed and confirmed before they could comment on what types of drugs they were being used to make.

Heavy thunderstorms swept through the tri-state on Sunday causing flash floods and lightning strikes that injured 3 people. The three men were struck at Orchard Beach in the Bronx Sunday afternoon and were being treated at a local hospital. Meanwhile, various Labor Day weekend celebrations were interrupted, delayed and even canceled as the U.S. Open tennis tournament had to be postponed and the Electric Zoo musical festival on Randall's Island had to be prematurely shut down.
