NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Police have arrested a New York City schoolteacher on a rape charge, the NYPD confirmed.

Authorities charged Anthony Criscuolo, 40, with first-degree rape, police said.

Criscuolo, a fifth-grade special education teacher at P.S. 386 in the Bronx, is accused of raping a 10-year-old student, according to Metro.us.

The girl's mother found sexual emails between her daughter and Criscuolo, so she contacted police, Metro.us reported.

"He has been reassigned away from the school and any students," said Connie Pankratz, a Department of Education spokesperson. "We plan to seek his termination."

Criscuolo makes $72,990 a year, according to the DOE. He started his career in 2002 as a substitute special education teacher at P.S. 178 in the Bronx. In 2003, he was appointed to a full-time position. He has also worked at P.S. 498 in the Bronx.

Robert De Niro is a family man, a filmmaker, an entrepreneur and one of my favorite actors of all time. He's also a co-founder of the Tribeca Film Festival, which has more to see than ever before. De Niro wears just as many hats on screen as he does in real life. The father of six starred in six films last year, owns four restaurants and a hotel, and still finds time each spring for the Tribeca Film Festival, Lower Manhattan's annual cinematic showcase.
