Roofer Falls Through Ceiling, Debris Injures Girl Inside

PHILADELPHIA -

"I have bruising all here and cuts," Maya Pur said pointing to her left hand. "I have a sprained neck and a concussion and headaches and nausea."

Pur is still feeling the effects of falling debris that clobbered her in the head late Saturday morning. Even minor moves cause her major pain.

The 12-year-old Bustleton girl suffered the injuries when a roofing repair man working on her Krewstown Park Apartments crashed through her ceiling and made a cameo next to her on the couch.

"He didn't ask me if I was okay or anything."

She was watching Saturday morning cartoons.

"This banging I've been hearing," Maya said, as repairmen continued fixing her roof. "All day yesterday that's all I heard, so I wasn't expecting anything."

"Then all of a sudden he's there," she said referring to the roofer who fell through the ceiling. "There's a hole in my ceiling. It didn't seem real."

It was real alright. The roofer was alight. Maya's injuries sent her to the hospital. John Kravchak, owner of the roofing company, is now charged with filing a false report to police.

The 60-year-old Darby man didn't answer his door to talk about allegations he lied to investigators. Police say Kravchak claimed to be the one who fell through the roof instead of his employee. He's even accused of swapping clothes with him to try and cover it up.

"They switched hats and then the guy took off his shirt," said Maya.

Liss Property Managers didn't return our calls. Records show there have been more than 50 License & Inspections violations.
