Family Of Late SEAL Joins Lawsuit Over NSA Surveillance

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

There have been fresh filings in federal court in Washington, D.C., during the past weekend.

A class-action lawsuits list defendants such as the President, the National Security Agency and the Department of Justice.

Meanwhile, Philadelphia couple Charles and Mary Ann Strange, whose Navy SEAL son was killed in a 2011 Afghanistan chopper crash, have joined a lawsuit over the NSA's collection of Verizon phone records.

The plaintiffs are telling the media that they have been critical of the administration and feel that they are likely targets.

All of this is going on while the hunt for the 29 year old man responsible for the leak remains in hiding.

Rep. Tom McClintock said, "They don't have him yet, but it's under inquiry and they've got a full-time investigation. So I cannot tell you whether he -- well, they're looking for him."

The question remains if he should be extradited.

"Oh yeah," McClintock said. I don't think you can just make this passing as to, you know, just simply a case of intruding on people's privacy."

Senator Lindsey Graham said, "All I can tell you is this guy is not a patriot. In my opinion, he's a potential felon, and you shouldn't believe everything he tells you."

It's clear that lawmakers vary in their opinions of the whistle blower, either praising his efforts or calling him a traitor and a lawbreaker.

The answer that we don't have, at this time, is his location.

For example, if he's in China, will Chinese officials be willing to turn him over?

UPDATE: NSA leaker Snowden says he's not avoiding justice
