The Salvation Army Southeast Michigan Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC) will host a hiring event in an effort to fill all positions at the nonprofit's 34 thrift stores and warehouses. The job fair will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11 at the Auburn Hills Thrift Store located at 605 Opdyke Road.

"We need to hire almost 150 qualified applicants to maintain our staff with our thrift store expansions," said Jacqulynn Idzior, director of operations, The Salvation Army Southeast Michigan ARC, which operates the thrift stores. "We're looking to hire part-time and full-time clerks, drivers and managers-in-training."

The ARC will conduct on-site interviews for the full and part-time positions available at all the ARC's thrift stores in Oakland, Macomb and Wayne counties; Ann Arbor; Brighton; the Frenchtown Township thrift store in Monroe County; and the warehouses in Pontiac, Detroit and Romulus.

Individuals interested in retail management positions must have two to five years of supervisory experience to qualify, while truck driving candidates need a valid chauffeur's licenses and DOT card to apply.

Parents and teachers know school supplies don't come cheap. Many teachers even buy school supplies out-of-pocket. But now, a new Detroit company is doing more than selling school supplies - they're also giving back.
