*The Weather

Strong high pressure over the Southwest with a warm air mass in place and very little sea breeze will produce a sunny and very WARM weekend at the beaches! The shore will be the spot to be with inland temperatures over 100 degrees.

High Temperatures on the sand: Saturday 78  Sunday 80

Winds will be mostly calm in the mornings and then turn light onshore (WSW onshore 5-8 mph) by noon.

*The Surf:

A combination of a Southern Hemisphere ground swell and WNW swells will produce mostly 2-3' surf both Saturday and Sunday. A few larger sets are possible on south facing beaches Saturday. The surf should be fun and crossed up with the combo swell and the water is still warm! Conditions will be quite clean through the day.

*Always swim and surf near a lifeguard!

Here are the latest water temperature reports: Zuma 67, Hermosa 74, Cabrillo 69, Huntington 69, San Clemente 74

*The Rip Current:

Break the grip of the RIP! Our beaches are prone to rip tides. If you get caught in one, do NOT panic! Swim PARALLEL to the coast OUT of the current. Try and get attention from lifeguards if you need help. Most importantly, ALWAYS swim near a manned life guard lower. He or she will alert you to rip currents and tell you where it is safe to swim. Check out the images to the left  and the video for more rip current safety.

*The Water Quality:

Heal the Bay released their annual BUMMER SUMMER Beach Report Card before the Memorial Day Weekend and the news is mostly good! The complete Heal the Bay Beach Report Card can be found here.

Have a SAFE weekend everyone and don't forget to check my forecasts for the latest conditions at the coast every Monday through Friday morning starting at 4:30am on FOX 11 or right here on myfoxla.com
