AT&T to hire for 600 new jobs in Georgia

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA -

AT&T announced Thursday it plans to hire for more than 1,000 full- and part-time positions throughout Georgia – including nearly 600 new jobs – "immediately."

The positions are for network construction and maintenance, customer support, retail and other positions.

"Georgia businesses and consumers are using more communications services such as wireless and broadband," Governor Nathan Deal said Thursday. "These jobs will provide opportunities for our citizens in one of the fastest-growing parts of the Georgia economy and will help build critical communications infrastructure and provide customer support."

Many of the new positions are the result of AT&T's recently announced Project Velocity IP, a three-year multibillion dollar investment plan to expand and enhance its national wireless and wired IP broadband networks.

Full- and part-time positions include competitive wages and benefits. AT&T currently employs more than 21,000 employees in Georgia. The company constantly hires new talent as its job mix and product line changes with its industry, and last year filled thousands of positions.
