Thousands attend Dacula Memorial Day Parade

DACULA, Ga. -

Thousands of Gwinnett County residents carried on a tradition Monday morning by attending the annual Dacula Memorial Day Parade.

A rider-less horse represented the war dead, followed by people carrying photos of loved ones they've lost in Iraq, Afghanistan and beyond.  The community is proud of its veterans, and the use the annual event to show it.

"We were fortunate enough to visit Washington, D.C. during spring break and we were able to explain a lot of history behind Arlington….We took the kids, so now it makes more sense to them to see the pictures of those soldiers that have passed away and now they understand" said Charlene Savage of Lawrenceville.

A Memorial Day festival continued in downtown Dacula on Monday afternoon.
