NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Actress Amanda Bynes was arrested by New York City police after investigating a report of her allegedly smoking marijuana in the lobby of her Midtown Manhattan building.

The troubled celebrity is charged with reckless endangerment police say she threw "drug paraphernalia" out her window on the 36th floor on West 47th Street.

The item in question was a marijuana "bong."

A building official called police to complain that Bynes, 27, was smoking marijuana and rolling a joint in the building's lobby.

She appeared in Manhattan court Friday wearing a long, disheveled blond wig.

"My client completely denies illegally throwing anything out of her window," said Andrew Friedman, her lawyer for the arraignment.

She was released on her own recognizance and given a July 9 court date.

Once a rising star who appeared in Nickelodeon's "All That" and movies like "Easy A," Bynes has lately been Tweeting bizarre photos and comments.
