NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Former Rep. Anthony Weiner launched his campaign for mayor of New York City this week, but his website seems to indicate he is running for office in Pittsburgh.

The stylized and colorized image used in the "Weiner for Mayor" banner shows a bridge and a skyline.

But that's not New York.

The picture is of the Roberto Clemente Bridge in the Steel City, according to several Tweets and blog posts.

Weiner on Wednesday Tweeted the link to his website, saying: "It's a website for my campaign for mayor. Take a look. GoingWithUnderstatementToStart"

He grew up in Brooklyn and may have been going for a Brooklyn Bridge look on his site.

By Thursday afternoon, the Pittsburgh image had been replaced with a more generic-looking skyline evoking New York. That image was then in turn replaced by a set of five photos, each presumably representing each of the five boroughs.

The firm that made the website for Weiner, NGP VAN, took the blame and admitted that it made an "honest mistake."

"Our designer got the image from a set of images that included New York City images, but obviously this image was not of New York City, as the Weiner campaign had requested," John Brougher, of NGP VAN, said in a statement. "With the image behind a strong blue background, our team did not catch this mistake."

In 2011, Weiner resigned from Congress after getting aught sending suggestive photos and messages with women online.

The U.S. Open is underway in Queens and there's no denying that many of the players, both men and women, are in great physical shape and know how to play that up. Women are particularly promoted in the industry as attractive, fashionable and fiercely competitive. Does that help the game and draw more people in?
