Quilts For Kids, Filling Garage Among Efforts To Help In Okla.

Posted: Updated:

The volunteer effort in Oklahoma is underway.   Groups from across the country have hit the road, delivering hot meals to anyone in need.

One local organization is doing what they can to help the victims of the deadly twister.

Fox 29's Stacey Stauffer visited a local charity located in Fairless Hills where sewing machines are working in overdrive.

Quilts for Kids volunteers are busy packing up handmade patchwork quilts to send to the youngest victims of this week's monster tornado.

These dedicated ladies have sent quilts to victims of 9-11, and hurricanes Katrina and Sandy.   Volunteer Linda Ayre quickly got in touch with a quilt shop in Moore to see what it needs.   An order for 200 quilts quickly grew to 1800!  All 1800 will ship out overnight!

This non-profit uses unwanted or discontinued fabric and gives it to volunteers who then turn the sheets of cotton into works of art from the heart.

Every day they're sent to children's hospitals throughout the country, but soon they will belong to the injured children of Moore.

"There is lots of love that goes into these quilts and when you wrap them around the kids, they really feel it."

Visit their website to learn more about this wonderful organization.
