Wendy Greuel's Emotional Concession

Posted: Updated:
Van Nuys, CA -

(FOX 11) Wendy Greuel had a light moment with the media as well as serious and sometimes emotional ones as she officially conceded the Mayor's race to Eric Garcetti. She didn't want to "Monday morning quarterback" but said she would be looking at what her campaign did wrong and right. She got emotional when thanking her family and when talking about the hard-fought campaign.

Wendy Gruel said "one day we will have a woman Mayor of Los Angeles...I may not have broken through the glass ceiling last night, but we sure made a crack in it."

Gruel got emotional when thinking about how her parents would never believe she actually ran for Mayor of the City of Los Angeles.

She said she looked forward to working with Mayor-elect Garcetti and, as for her immediate future, she's going to Disneyland -- something she promised her son.

Said Greuel, "This was a hard fought campaign - a hard-fought campaign - and we have to send a message out that we have to fight for the City of Los Angeles."
