Yogi, Meet Mr. Ed - New York News

Yogi, Meet Mr. Ed

Posted: Updated:
Sun Valley, CA -

(FOX 11) It was just after 6:30 Wednesday morning when the fine folks of Sunland were awakened by a young boy looking for something to eat.

A young boy bear, that is.

For the next hour we all watched, from the safety of SKY FOX's camera, as the bear meandered through the neighborhood. Neither the whirl of the helicopters nor the unending chorus of barking dogs seeming to faze him.

This bear was on a mission -- and that mission was breakfast.

There were a few tense moments, like when boy bear invited himself into a corral that was already occupied by the horses who live there. At first, they seemed curious and a meet and greet appeared to be on. But soon we saw Yogi run one way and Mr. Ed the opposite way. Who spooked who, we're not sure.

Then it was time for a nap, courtesy of the wardens with Fish and Wildlife who supplied the tranquilizing tonic, and boy bear was out like a light.

A tag on his ear confirming this was no ordinary bear; wardens say he's the same young bear who visited Santa Clarita last week.

When he next opens his big brown eyes, he should be back in the forest, where hopefully he'll stay this time...unless visions of picnic baskets in the shape of garbage bins bring him back to suburbia.
