WALLED LAKE, Mich. (WJBK) -

The Walled Lake police department could soon be disbanded in an effort to balance the city's budget.

City officials met Tuesday to discuss laying off the city's four full time officers and allowing the Oakland County Sheriff's Department to take over public safety responsibilities.

FOX 2's Roop Raj reports no final decisions were made at the meeting. The city's fiscal year begins in July.

Walled Lake is less than 3 square miles and has a population of around 7,000.
