Truck driver, 73, seriously hurt in Eisenhower crash

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

A truck driver was seriously injured when the semi-truck he was driving overturned on the exit ramp from the outbound Eisenhower Expressway to Route 83 North Wednesday.

The accident happened around 12:15 p.m. and all westbound lanes were closed for nearly two hours at York Road for a medical helicopter.  Drivers took some time to observe emergency personnel responding to the accident.

The driver was trapped inside the cab, state police said. Elmhurst police are in the process of freeing the driver Wednesday afternoon

FOX 32 News did not receive information as to whether the medical crew needed to transport anyone for treatment.

Outbound lanes on the Eisenhower Expressway opened back up around 2:30 p.m.
