DETROIT (WJBK) -

It was Monday morning on the city's southwest side when someone tried to break into the place Tomas Zuniga has called home for 18 years.

Zuniga has mounted cameras to catch any crooks trying to creep into his house.  One of those cameras captured a man walking up to the door and knocking. Zuniga picks up the story from there.

"He tries to open the window, push the window open. He runs back to his car to get a crow bar."

"Kind of opens it up like four inches and he can't get it open. He tries again, and then he hears a car. He hides for a minute. He tries to go back at it trying to open the window."

"He sees the car is turning into the driveway. He runs away."

The next door neighbor had come home. However, we're told the same guy tried four times that day to get into Zuniga's house in broad daylight.

"They put me on hold for over a half an hour. Finally got through to police, and they just told me they couldn't make it," Zuniga said.

But we're told they made it out in December when the same guy and another person broke-in stealing some costume jewelry and other inexpensive items.

"They kind of thought that they knew who they were. They were even mentioning names," Zuniga said.

This homeowner was feeling hopeful like DPD was "going to do something about it."

"I want to make sure my family is protected. You know, people like him, he's going to come back, and we don't want that," Zuniga said.

Zuniga was told that if he did not hear from a detective by Wednesday he should call back, but he did not want to wait, so he called us. He wanted people to see the suspects. Maybe someone will recognize them, do the right thing and call police.

DPD said they are aware of this case and do want take a good look at the video.
