3 Shot Inside Chinese Restaurant During Robbery Attempt

PHILADELPHIA -

Gunfire erupted during a robbery attempt overnight inside a Chinese restaurant in Philadelphia's Kensington section, police said.

Three people were shot inside the restaurant located at Fifth and Cumberland streets.

The most seriously injured of the three is said to be in critical condition.

No arrests have been reported.

"At least 15 shots were fired from a semi-automatic handgun," Chief Inspector Scott Small said.

Police officers actually heard the shots, then came upon the restaurant and a bloody scene.

"One 19-year-old male, who is suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the right side, police transported him to Temple," Small said. "He's in stable condition. Another 20-year-old male, suffering from a gunshot wound to the hand, police also took him to Temple. A third victim was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the face, the chest and the back and the lower torso."

Investigators said one of the robbers apparently got nervous, and that's when the gunshots rang out.

Private security cameras recorded the entire incident, police said. They're reviewing the footage now.

"Everybody entering the property, the shooting, and everyone exiting the property was all recorded on private security cameras inside the Chinese store, so that will really, really help out our investigation," Small said.

FOX 29's Dawn Timmeney has more details in this video report from the scene.

Making New York City more energy efficient

More than half the population of New York City rides public transportation to work. No other metropolis in this country even approaches that percentage or the MTA's total number of riders. For that reason, New York likely ranks as the most energy-efficient city in the nation. But what would it take to make the city even more energy-efficient or even self-sufficient?
