A Sunday of controversy on this edition of Let It Rip Weekend.

First, is being gay a good reason to stay in the country illegally?  That's the situation facing local artist Michel Mendy.  After recently being shot during a robbery, immigration officials discovered he was in the U.S. illegally.  Now he's being held at an ICE detention center where he could be deported to his native Senegal.  But Mendy says if he goes back, he could face persecution.  That's because he's gay, and Senegal has strict laws against homosexuality.  He faces arrest and even death.  To debate the issue, Mendy's mentor, Leslie Mathews joined us, along with Tracey Lee from the American Family Association of Michigan.  Lee believes being gay isn't a reason to give Mendy asylum.

Next a fiery debate between two outspoken reverends.  Rev. CL Bryant (@revclbryant) created a documentary called "Runaway Slave," in which he says the black community has become enslaved by the Democratic Party.  He takes on Rev. Charles Williams II (@therevcw) Senior Pastor of the Historic King Solomon Baptist Church of Detroit and President of National Action Network.  They clash on so many things, it's better that you watch the videos of their debates.  There was so much said, we had to give them two segments of the show!  It's a first for Let It Rip Weekend.

If you'd like to see Bryant's documentary for yourself, it's available on DVD, You tube and Hulu.  There will also be a showing Monday, May 13th at Port Huron High School's Performing Arts Center at 6:30 p.m.  For more information, visit this link.
