ALPHARETTA, Ga. -

Alpharetta police say they have taken a man into custody in connection with a bomb threat at North Point Mall on Friday.

They say someone called in the threat to the Alpharetta 911 Center at around 9:30 a.m. Units responded to the mall located at 1000 North Point Circle and began to evacuate the building as a precaution.

At around 10:30 a.m., they say the caller phoned the 911 center again and asked about the progress of the evacuation.

The mall was searched and no explosives were found.

Police took 28-year-old Omari Glenn Riden into custody. They said that during an interview with detectives, Riden began to cry and confessed to calling in the hoax bomb threat.

Riden has been charged with making terroristic threats, making false alarm and a false 911 report, according to George Gordon of the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety.

North Point Mall was reopened later Friday afternoon.
