Police Arrest Woman in Lawncrest Carjacking

A 30-year old woman is in police custody at Northeast Detectives. Police say she will be charged with robbery, carjacking and aggravated assault.

It all started on the 700 block of Adams Avenue in northeast Philadelphia. That's where a 40 year old man who drives for a limousine cab company was responding to a call for a pickup at a house. Police say when he got there a woman jumped in the back seat of the man's Chrysler 300 which has limo tags and put a knife to his throat. The man's hands were cut when he tried to pull the knife away. Police say the woman then pulled out a gun and ordered the driver out of the car. She pulled off and he called 9-1-1.

The driver told police his unmarked cab has a gps tracker so the police helicopter went up and spotted the car. Meanwhile police on the ground trailed her into a shopping center on Huntinton Pike in Abington.

Police say the woman got out and tried to walk away but they arrested her.

The victim was taken to the hospital where police say he was able to identify the woman they arrested as his attacker.

Police don't know if the suspect is the person who made the call for a cab or if she happened to be on the block and jumped in. They also don't know yet if any money was taken from the cab.

    Two deputy U.S. marshals and an NYPD detective were seriously wounded in a shootout with a fugitive sexual assault suspect in the West Village in Manhattan, officials said. The shootout happened in smoke shop called Smoking Culture on West 4th Street near Jones Street.
