Truck rollover forces 51 Northbound to close for hours

Posted: Updated:

PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities say the northbound lanes of Arizona State Route 51 are open again after a cement truck rollover closed the roadway for hours.

The rollover happened near Cactus Road on Tuesday morning.

Arizona Department of Public Safety spokesman Bart Graves says the driver of the fully-loaded truck lost control following a tire blowout.

The vehicle overturned on the northbound lanes and spilled its cargo into the southbound lanes. The truck also hit the highway's center wall.

It's not known whether the driver was injured.

The northbound lanes and two southbound lanes were closed while crews with the Arizona Department of Transportation worked to remove debris. Northbound traffic was rerouted during the cleanup.
