Oakland Co. woman hospitalized following house fire

INDEPENDENCE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WJBK) -

An 82-year old Oakland County woman is hospitalized in critical condition after a fire inside her home in the 6000 block of Clintonville Road in Independence Township.

Nothing was visible from the outside, but flames caused damage to the interior of the woman's home, south of Waldon Road near Clarkston.

Independence Twp. Deputy Fire Chief Gary Sharp tells FOX 2 the woman who lives alone was overcome by smoke and was not breathing when she was found. Crews were able to revive her and she was taken to the hospital.

The cause of the fire which was reported shortly after 7 a.m. remains under investigation.
