3-year-old boy missing for hours, father charged

PEORIA, Ariz. -

Peoria Police have filed charges against a Peoria dad who was asleep while his son got out and wandered around the neighborhood.

Friday about 3:30 p.m., officers were called to a mobile home park near Peoria and 79th Aves after a resident reported finding a barefoot little boy wandering the area alone, walking on hot pavement.

Officers went door to door trying to find his parents, but no one claimed him or recognized him. He was in good condition and was placed in CPS custody.

We reported the lost boy on our Friday 9 p.m. newscast, and the little boy's father saw it and recognized the description of his son. He approached our reporter asking about the toddler, and called 911. He told FOX 10 reporter Jessica Flores he had been sleeping when his son got out.

"Yes he's my son, he was in the crib," the man said. His wife got home a few minutes later, and told FOX 10 she had been at work all day.

Peoria police have recommended charges of endangerment and neglect for the man.

The 3-year-old child remains in CPS custody, and they will determine whether or not the boy is safe to be released to his family.

Out of over 500 hopefuls only a handful will join the Brooklyn Nets Kids Dance Team. The Nets held auditions this week at LIU Brooklyn. Adorable Bronx native Arielle was turned away last year but this time around she's made it through to the final round of the auditions. But even those who were on the team last year still have to try out.
