ATLANTA -

The weekend rain is causing creeks and streams to flood, and some rivers are under a Flash Flood Warning. The FOX 5 Storm Team has received reports of 2 to 4 inches of rainfall with 6 inches reported in some isolated areas, and more rain is expected for Monday.

Track the rain with FOX 5's Live VIPIR Radar

Most counties in north Georgia and metro Atlanta area under a Flood Watch through Monday evening with Flood Warnings issued for most waterways in north Georgia. In addition to rivers and streams, those living in low-lying areas should stay alert to the latest conditions.

Cherokee County officials say water eroded the soil under Glen Wilkie Trail in Ball Ground. Authorities have closed off the road, as flood waters continue to wash away sections of the highway. The county EMS said that there's nothing they can do to fix the sinkhole until the rain stops.

Engineers say the road will be closed until they can repair the damage.

County authorities say they are also worried about flooding in Canton as the Etowah River reaches flood stage.

The FOX 5 Storm Chaser found several areas of isolated flooding including an apartment complex off Piedmont Avenue in Atlanta. Water covered much of the staircase and yard.

Rope Mill Park in Woodstock and Heritage Park in Canton have been closed due to the rising water. In Lithia Springs, rising water has flooded Woodrow Wilson Park.

Officials said that Marietta Road from Cartersville Street to Harmon Circle will be closed until further notice due to a water line break.

A boil water order is in effect in Canton in the area of the I-575 overpass to Marietta Highway due to that water main break.

The over-saturated ground mixed with some high winds is causing trees to topple down, damaging homes and taking down power lines in the process.

A tree on the lawn of the Governor's Mansion in Atlanta fell. FOX 5 cameras were there as crews worked to cut up the tall tree. They say that they have been busy all weekend.

FOX 5 spoke with DeKalb County resident Joyce Clark who showed us where a tree crashed through her home just feet away from her bedroom while she slept. She said she thought it was an earthquake and immediately jumped out bed. The tree left both structural and water damage to the house.

While none of the storms that moved through the area were severe, some of the storms contained strong winds and pea to dime size hail. Several viewers posted photos and video on FOX 5 Atlanta Facebook page of a hail storm that moved through north Georgia early Sunday evening.

Several scheduled events in metro area, including the 40th Annual Snellville Days, the Sweet Auburn Music Festival, and the NHRA Southern Nationals were canceled due to the weather this weekend.
