Comcast SportsNet fires Susannah Collins after viral videos gain attention

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Comcast SportsNet reporter Susannah Collins has been let go by the network.

Collins flubbed up a line on Tuesday, saying the Blackhawks had a "tremendous amount of sex during the regular season," instead of saying they had a "tremendous amount of success during the regular season."

Video of Collins' misspoken line went viral. Video related to the viral recording exposed a series of YouTube videos from a few years ago, when she was a co-host of "Sports Nutz."

Collins was featured in a variety of sexually explicit reports on "Sports Nutz," which many considered offensive.

Comcast said they could no longer use her after those videos gained attention. Oddly enough, it is speculated that those videos that brought her to Comcast's attention in the first place. In fact, Collins said in a recent interview that she landed her first job with Inside NFL because an executive there was a fan of "Sports Nutz."

That lead the "Hawk Crazy" blogger on Chicago Now to point out, "She didn't intentionally use the type of language she did on the series on CSN's airwaves, so what does her past matter? If CSN is concerned about it's employees' past projects they should try this thing called Google."

On DeadSpin, Timothy Burke writes, "It brings us to conclude one of two things: either CSN doesn't adequately investigate its job applicants (stupid), or its executives fire employees for an innocent misstatement (tremendously stupid)."

Kenneth Faried scored 22 points, Anthony Davis all of his 19 in the second half, and the U.S. rebounded from a rare deficit at halftime to beat Turkey 98-77 on Sunday in the Basketball World Cup.
They figured it would be simple, that they would just beat up on Turkey like they did Finland a night earlier.
