DETROIT (WJBK) -

Detroiter Tyree Guyton's creation is one of the most well-known art projects in the world, but a fire has destroyed part of The Heidelberg Project, and police think it was arson.

Early Friday morning, fire raged through the famed OJ House at The Heidelberg Project.  At first glance, you would think that this is pretty sad, but The Heidelberg Project stands for so much more, and this fire won't burn its spirit.

"This is just a temporary roadblock," said son Towan Guyton.

"Everybody's in good spirits down here.  Nobody is feeling negative.  I just don't want [anybody] thinking that it was caused by hate or any threats, anything like that.  I believe it was just something that was random," said son Tyree Guyton II.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and Detroit Fire Department arson investigators were on the scene when we arrived.  But regardless of how the fire started, Tyree Guyton is more determined than ever to turn this tragedy into a historic positive.

"We've been wanting to do something with this project anyway for the longest, so what they did was basically just gave us a helping hand.  So they made it easy for us," Tyree Guyton II said.

This isn't the first time The Heidelberg Project has been faced with adversity.  Every time the vision and the passion and the creative mind of Tyree Guyton has shined.  This will be no different.

"When he [gets] ready to reveal what's about to happen next, it's going to be a shocker to the world.  So just keep on supporting us.  That's the best thing.  Just keep the support coming... and keep on coming down here.  Nothing changed.  You haven't [done] anything but made this project bigger than what it really is," Towan Guyton said.

Dr. Guyton did not want to go on camera for an interview, but he did tell me, "I'm so damn excited for what's next."

When Superstorm Sandy destroyed Maureen Childs' Staten Island home, she turned to New York City's Build it Back program for help. She says what she got back was heartache. At a news conference Wednesday, Rep. Michael Grimm, who represents Staten Island and part of Brooklyn, highlighted what he called failures in a program designed to help victims of Sandy get back on their feet.

The Boys and Girls Club of Newark seems like the last place you'd expect to find the daughter of hip hop royalty. But when it comes to inspiring young girls, Angela Simmons, daughter of Rev. Run of Run DMC, believes in the old adage "each one, teach one." While it may seem like she had a silver spoon in her mouth, she knows the importance of giving back.
