Arizona National Guard unit returns from Qatar

PHOENIX -

After close to a year overseas, a National Guard unit is back home with their loved ones. With bagpipers blaring, 70 soldiers with the 850th military police battalion of the Arizona Army National Guard were welcomed back home after being deployed overseas in Qatar for the past 10 months.

"There's no feeling in the world like it," says Specialist Tim Ballard.

Specialist Tim Ballard was reunited with his twins Olivia and Andrew. The last time he saw them they were just a few days old.

"I didn't expect them to be this big when I got back but I've heard stories -- you kind of just expect life to stand still when you go."

His wife Samantha couldn't wait to run and kiss her husband as soon as the soldiers were released by their commander.

"Oh yeah I saw him as soon as he walked in the door. But I told him, I said, be warned you'd better catch me because I'm not falling on the ground," says Samantha Ballard.

Everywhere you looked in this National Guard hangar, there were tears of joy and huge hugs as families were once again made complete.

Cooper Bailly dressed up just like his dad, and even though he's only 2, his mom says he knows exactly how special this day is.

"He's been talking about daddy coming home on Thursday all week," says Crystal Bailly.

The day they've been waiting for for nearly a year was finally here.

"Seeing him now it's just, it's like our family is complete and everything feels like it's falling into place and everything is right," says Samantha Ballard.
