LIVONIA, Mich. (WJBK) -

You might recall last season that you could buy Justin Verlander's Fastball Flakes cereal.  Now the same company is offering something different with another Tigers' player -- Miggy's Salsa.

A raucous crowd that wouldn't be out of place at Comerica Park was on hand Monday to greet Miguel Cabrera at the Meijer in Livonia.

"What about all these fans out here?" I asked him.

"That's great," he said.  "That's why Detroit is [such a] special city."

In between chants of "we love you" and "MVP," Cabrera joked with the fans, signed autographs and answered questions.

"How that homer feel last night?" one person asked.

"Awesome," Cabrera replied.

Going deep on a 3-0 pitch is great, but is the salsa good?  I took around some samples of the mild and the reaction was enthusiastic, but really Cabrera's face could be on a gallon of anti-freeze and it would sell.

"What is more likely to be served in the Tigers' clubhouse, Fastball Flakes or Miggy's Salsa?" I asked him.

"Both," he said.

Meanwhile, a young fan asked whether it's true Cabrera has made the Tigers the best team.

"Yes," he answered.

Miggy's Salsa is available at Meijer for a limited time.  A portion of the proceeds will benefit charities in Detroit and Venezuela.
