5/3: Creative Writing Instructor

Posted: Updated:

Writopia Lab is a national community of young writers, ages 6-18. Founded in New York City in 2007, Writopia Lab has now spread to Greater New York, Greater Washington, Los Angeles, and now Chicago.

Produced playwrights and published fiction writers: do you love the idea of working with kids and teens? Are you excited by the idea of helping children learn to write short stories and plays with beginnings, middles, and (drum roll) endings? Writopia Lab, an award-winning 501(c)3 non-profit that runs the country's best creative writing workshops for kids ages 6 to 18, is looking for instructors in Chicago.

During the school year, workshops meet once a week for ten weeks. During the summer and all school breaks, we run week-long intensives. All young writers finish at least one story by the end of their workshop.

Our teachers are half camp counselor (fun and funny, warm and engaging) and half savvy editor/teacher (astute, insightful, serious, open, sensitive). Please contact us as soon as possible if you this sounds like you.

We train teachers extensively in our method. We are ideally looking for someone who is interested in helping grow our Chicago branch.
