ROMULUS, Mich. (WJBK) -

Turkia Mullin has a big payday in her future after winning a major victory against the Wayne County Airport Authority.

Mullin was hired to head the airport authority only to be fired two months later amid a severance scandal.  At the time, Mullin had just received a $200,000 pay out after leaving her job as Wayne County's economic development director.

Mullin sued the airport authority for wrongful termination, and now arbitrator Paul Teranes has ruled in her favor, ordering that she be paid the remainder of her contract, which amounts to over $700,000. Teranes also ordered the airport to pay Mullin's lawyers.

"For more than a year and a half, my life has been put on hold as my professional career has been scrutinized and attacked," said Mullin during a news conference Friday. "The judge's 17-page opinion completely vindicates me, restores my reputation as an honest, hard-working and allows me and my family to move forward."

The airport authority said it is disappointed with the outcome.

The decision will not come at a cost to taxpayers because the airport authority is self-sustaining.
