How FOX 11 Goes Live In A Moving News Van

Posted: Updated:
Los Angeles, CA -

(FOX 11) There we are, live in our news van on the 405, the nation's busiest freeway. But how did we get a live transmission from a moving vehicle? Well, we used several things I thought you'd find interesting.

First, there is the transmission device. It's a backpack sized unit called a LIVEU that enables live video links via wireless cellular networks

Then, the cameras: the small ones are called GoPro's. We plastered them on the side of our van, the hood, and inside facing me. And, there was the old reliable industrial strength camera we use everyday to cover the news for you on TV.

I love all this new technology. And, that's how we do it!
