Man falls down elevator shaft in Lower Manhattan

NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

A worker was rushed to the hospital after falling 25 feet down an elevator shaft in Lower Manhattan.

The incident happened at about 11 a.m. at 61 Broadway.

It is not clear why the man fell down the elevator shaft.

Rescuers from the FDNY had to extricate the victim from a confined space. He was taken to Bellevue Hospital and was listed in stable condition.

The man's name was not released.
