NJ High School Reopens After Threatening Graffiti Prompts Evacuation

MEDFORD TWP., N.J. -

A high school in Burlington County reopened Thursday afternoon after threatening graffiti found in a school bathroom prompted an evacuation.

Lenape Regional High School in Medford was evacuated Thursday morning after the discovery of threatening graffiti, school officials said. By about noon, staff and students were allowed to return to class.

Officers with the Medford Police Department and the local Canine Task Force searched buildings and school grounds and have since determined the school to be safe.

In a statement on the school's website, school officials said they were investigating the incident.

"All efforts are being pursued to identify and apprehend the person(s) responsible for creating this disturbance," the statement read. "Thank you for your understanding and support throughout this incident."

Students were expected to continue with classes on a modified schedule and all after school activities were expected to go on as scheduled, school officials said.

    Summer is not over just yet! Today will be very hot and humid with high temperatures in the low to mid 90s and mostly sunny skies.  A cold front will bring some thunderstorms tonight, some of which may be severe.

    Wednesday will be less humid but it remains warm all week long.
