Job fair aims to hire veterans, military spouses

TEMPE, Ariz. -

If you're a veteran or the spouse of a veteran looking for a job, a career fair on Thursday is being hosted specifically for you.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation and University of Phoenix are hosting Hiring Our Heroes at the university's Tempe campus.

Since Hiring Our Heroes was launched in 2011, it's been able to help more than 100,000 veterans and military spouses find jobs.

Their goal is to hire 500,000 veterans and spouses by the end of 2014 and so far, more than 900 businesses of all sizes have pledged to hire 220,000 of them.

The University of Phoenix is the newest member of the Hiring Our Heroes Veterans Employment Advisory Council.

    Two thugs were caught on security camera footage beating a teenager and stealing from her inside an apartment building in the Midwood section of Brooklyn.  The NYPD says the attackers are seen dragging the 18-year-old out of an elevator into the hallway and punching and kicking her.
    Police have arrested one of two suspects wanted in the brutal attack of a teenager inside her apartment building in the Midwood section of Brooklyn. The thugs were caught on security camera footage beating the 18-year-old at about 9:34 on Sunday night. The attackers are seen dragging the girl out of an elevator into the hallway and punching and kicking her. Tyler Hopping, 18, was arrested on Wednesday.
