Big day arrives for Operation Wedding couple

Posted: Updated:
SUGAR HILL, Ga. -

Operation Wedding winners Staff Sergeant Ancil Christopher and his fiance, Tamika Russell, will tie the knot on Thursday! Their wedding day is extra special because it's free, thanks to Ashton Gardens and a whole host of sponsors.

Christopher and Tamika first met at the University of West Georgia.

"We had an English class together and she used to sit behind me and she used to always smile from the back of the class," said Christopher.

Out of three military couples, Ancil and Tamika were chosen as our Operation Wedding winners after a period of voting.  With eight weeks to go, the whirlwind wedding planning began. It started with Ashton Gardens in Sugar Hill, then invitations, flowers, music, tuxedo, dress, rings, the cake and food!

The couple says their journey to aisle was worth it , and now the wedding of their dreams has finally arrived.
