Warren Jeffs' property up for auction

Updated:

ST. GEORGE, Utah (AP) - A compound that reportedly belongs to jailed polygamous leader Warren Jeffs is up for auction.

The Spectrum of St. George reports that a 6-acre property in Hildale, Utah, is being sold to pay Jeffs' estranged former bodyguard.

Last year, a judge awarded a $26 million judgment to William "Willie" Jessop who accused the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints of destroying his excavating business, taking his property and harassing his family. FLDS leaders didn't show up to defend themselves in court.

A 10-foot high cinder block wall surrounds several buildings in the compound. There are security cameras and no trespassing signs.

It goes up for auction Thursday.

Jeffs is serving a life prison sentence in Texas for sexually assaulting two underage girls he took as brides.
