Anthony Weiner returns to Twitter

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Disgraced former congressman Anthony Weiner who resigned after he posted embarrassing semi-nude images of himself on Twitter is back on the microblogging site that accelerated his downfall.

Weiner has reactivated his account -- now called @anthonyweiner -- and had posted two Tweets by 3:30 p.m. Monday. The account is verified.

"For earth day: Idea 54," he Tweeted at 2:56 p.m., with a link to a document called "Keys to the City." Idea No. 54 calls for ending the prohibition on hybrid taxis in New York City.

The married former politician, who represented parts of Brooklyn and Queens in Congress, has expressed interest in returning to public life, possibly with a campaign for mayor.

A recent NBC New York-Marist poll showed him running second to Council Speaker Christine Quinn in a hypothetical Democratic primary matchup. But the poll showed that his "negatives" remain high among voters.

In 2011 Weiner posted a photo of his underwear-clad pelvic area on Twitter. At first he denied he posted it, saying someone had hacked his account. But later he admitted that he had intended to send the photo as a private message to a woman he had been flirting with online.

That incident led to revelations that Weiner -- who is married to Huma Abedin, a former aide to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton -- had been having sexually suggestive conversations online with several women.

Making New York City more energy efficient

More than half the population of New York City rides public transportation to work. No other metropolis in this country even approaches that percentage or the MTA's total number of riders. For that reason, New York likely ranks as the most energy-efficient city in the nation. But what would it take to make the city even more energy-efficient or even self-sufficient?
