Arrest made in northwest Atlanta double shooting

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA -

Police have made an arrest in connection to the shooting deaths of two people earlier this week in northwest Atlanta. Michael Oneal is charged with two counts of murder.

Investigators say a man and a woman were shot and killed on Holly Street just before 5 p.m. on Wednesday.  Authorities identified the victims on Thursday as 28-year-old Derrick Pitts and 20-year-old Shonenneshia Tucker.

According to police, the shootings are believed to be a result of a domestic dispute between Oneal and Tucker.  They also say the two have a child together.

Tucker's mother told FOX 5 she got a text message from her daughter around 4 p.m. saying she was on her way home.  Less than an hour later, she says she got another call saying her daughter had been shot.

Oneal is being held in the Fulton County Jail.
