FBI video of potential suspects - New York News

Boston Marathon terrorist attack

Images of suspects in Boston bombings

Posted: Updated:

The FBI released images of two suspects in the Boston Marathon bombings on Thursday, hours later both suspects had been spotted. One of the suspects is dead and the second suspect remains at large.

FBI Special Agent in Charge Richard DesLauriers said the photos came from surveillance cameras near the explosion sites.

The photos and video show two young men, one wearing a black cap -- called Suspect 1,  he was shot dead, said police.

The other wearing a white cap, Suspect 2, remains at large. Both men were seen wearing backpacks.

A massive manhunt was underway Friday for suspect #2 identified by the Associated Press as Dzhokhar A. Tsarnaev, 19, of Cambridge, Mass. The suspects are believed to be brothers from the Russia region near Chechnya, reports FOX News.

"Within the last day or so, through that careful process, we initially developed a single person of interest. Not knowing if the individual was acting alone or in concert with others, we obviously worked with extreme purpose to make that determination," DesLauriers said. "More importantly, it was done to ensure the future safety of the city, the commonwealth and the country. Indeed, through that process, the FBI developed a second suspect."

On Thursday, DesLauriers said the man wearing the white cap is seen placing his backpack on the ground just in front of the Forum Restaurant shortly before the blast.

If you were at the Forum Restaurant before or after the blast, the FBI would like you to contact the hotline. If you recognize either of the men https://bostonmarathontips.fbi.gov/ or call 800-CALL-FBI (800-225-5324).

"We considered them to be armed and extremely dangerous. No one should approach them. No one should attempt to apprehend them except law enforcement," DesLauriers said. "Do not take any action on your own. If you see these men, contact law enforcement."

Heavy thunderstorms swept through the tri-state on Sunday causing flash floods and lightning strikes that injured 3 people. The three men were struck at Orchard Beach in the Bronx Sunday afternoon and were being treated at a local hospital. Meanwhile, various Labor Day weekend celebrations were interrupted, delayed and even canceled as the U.S. Open tennis tournament had to be postponed and the Electric Zoo musical festival on Randall's Island had to be prematurely shut down.
