FORT DRUM, N.Y. (AP) — Miranda Mogg spent her childhood following her father whenever he was assigned to a new U.S. military post. This time they're headed overseas together.

The 21-year-old Army specialist and her father, Chief Warrant Officer 5 Michael Mogg, are members of the 10th Combat Aviation Brigade based at Fort Drum in northern New York.

The Watertown Daily Times reports that the Moggs will be among the 1,800 soldiers from the brigade deploying to Afghanistan in the next month. The father and daughter both serve in brigade's Headquarters and Headquarters Company.

The elder Mogg, a 29-year Army veteran, is the helicopter unit's master gunner. He's in his second stint at Fort Drum and about to make his fifth deployment. His daughter is an intelligence analyst who's facing her first deployment.
