WARREN, Mich. (AP) -

Prosecutors have charged a Warren Woods-Tower High School basketball coach they say had sex with a 16-year-old student.

The Macomb County prosecutor's office says it filed third-degree criminal sexual conduct charges Tuesday against 24-year-old Derek Knoll. He's the freshman basketball coach at the school in Warren.

Authorities say Knoll and the girl first made contact last year through Twitter. Police were tipped to the relationship by another student.

Prosecutor Eric Smith says teacher-student relationships must be based on "integrity and restraint."

Knoll's bond was set at $25,000. He doesn't have a listed home phone number and couldn't immediately be reached for comment.
