DETROIT (WJBK) -

It has been more than a year since the murder of Grosse Pointe Park businesswoman Jane Bashara.  One man is already in prison, and now her husband has been charged with her murder.

"Robert Bashara has been charged with one count of first-degree premeditated murder," Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy announced Wednesday.

The charges include murder, conspiracy and solicitation of murder in the January 2012 strangulation of his wife, Jane, who was found dead in her Mercedes SUV that had been dumped in an ally on Detroit's east side.  Within days, handyman Joseph Gentz confessed to murdering her, but said Bob Bashara hired him to do it.  Since then, Gentz has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and agreed to testify against Bashara.

"He's a strong witness, but he's not the only witness," Worthy said.

There are close to 300 witnesses in six states and 5,000 documents.  The prosecutor's office said they worked with local, state and federal law enforcement and are charging Bashara with more than murder.

"We're alleging that he encouraged witnesses to call in false tips.  We are alleging that he tried to get a witness or witnesses to leave the state so they could not be talked to," Worthy said.

Fox 2 legal analyst Charlie Langton said charges of suborning perjury, witness intimidation and obstruction of justice set this case apart from the rest.

"If you intimidate witnesses, that's a crime. You can't do that.  You cannot interfere with justice," he explained.

Worthy would not discuss motive in this case, but it's been widely reported that Bashara wanted his wife out of the way so he could build a new life and new home with his girlfriend and another woman to further their S&M lifestyle.

As for Jane Bashara's family, they have issued a statement expressing their gratitude to all the investigators involved in bringing this case to this conclusion.  Her sister, Julie Rowe, spoke once before at the sentencing for Gentz.

"Our healing will begin when the whole truth is known and all who were involved are held accountable," she said.

Bashara remains in prison after pleading guilty to hiring a hit man to kill Gentz in jail.  His attorney said Bashara continues to maintain he had no involvement in his wife's murder.

Out of over 500 hopefuls only a handful will join the Brooklyn Nets Kids Dance Team. The Nets held auditions this week at LIU Brooklyn. Adorable Bronx native Arielle was turned away last year but this time around she's made it through to the final round of the auditions. But even those who were on the team last year still have to try out.
